  1. Gear - If you are on a tight budget i would recommend a cheap 200 dollar (give or take) gun such as a tipman 98 custom, spyder brand or smart parts ion. For Beginner masks I recommend JT or Vforce brands. When buying check for anti-fog, peripheral vision, hearing, and comfort. As for pod packs this paintballers opinion is buy NxE pod packs.
  2. Holding and firing your marker - Make sure your elbow is held tight to your body. If your using a speedball style gun use the air tank like a stock and put it in your shoulder. When your shooting right handed the right hand should be holding the inline or fore grip. The other hand does nothing but tap the trigger as fast as possible. When shooting on the left side of a bunker your posture should be the same but opposite ( paintball tips and tricks: All good paintball players are ambidextrous). If you are doing it right you should look like this guy here.
  3. The break - If your a back player on the break you should be laying down lanes of paint at the opposing team while moving towards your back bunkers. Aim and accuracy are much more important then sheer speed here. IF you are a forward player or a snake runner make sure you are holding your gun on the opposite side of your body compared to the other team. On your sprint over a paint ball is far less likely to break on your cloths compared to your gun. Make sure you have good footing for springing into your sprint to your bunker.
  4. Laning - Is something back players usually do off the break. Just lay down a steady stream of paint between two bunkers you think the opposing teams forward players will run to off the break. If they cross your lane you just scored a kill.
  5. Leading - When a player starts to run don't shoot at him, paint balls are slow, shoot a stream of paint to where he is going so that you tag him right before he gets there.
  6. Snapshooting - This is one of the most important skills in top 10 paintball tips and tricks. When your pinned down behind your bunker snap shooting is the key to getting out. Make sure you have good balance, poke just your head and gun out from behind your bunker just long enough to fire 2 or 3 fast shots and retreat. If your opponent ducks for cover you post up and its your turn to pin him down. Try to pop out on a side or angle of your bunker that is not currently being decorated with paint.
  7. Movement - This is important, it keeps people guessing where you are and will constantly give you new angles to try and hit your targets from. Moving your team up the field is very important in both woods ball and speedball.
  8. Bunkering - When an opposing player is distracted, doesn't know where you are, or is just too timid to poke his head out when your throwing that much paint at his bunker, try and rush his position for the up close kill. Works best if he doesn't know what side or angle you are coming from, and obviously make sure the coast is clear for you first.
  9. Team work / comunication - Shouting out enemy positions is an awesome way to keep your team informed. Also try and set up cross fires on enemy bunkers where you are hitting his bunker at one extreme angle and an other one of your team mates is hitting it at the exact opposite extreme angle. This limits the enemies freedom behind the bunker and makes kills much more likely when he gets sloppy. For more detail on some of these paintball tips and tricks try browsing the links bellow.
  10. Home practice - Like any sport practice makes perfect. When your at home in front of the TV take your gun and an empty air can and practice switching the gun from right snapshooting position to left. Also try and get good at feathering the trigger (if you have a double trigger) with your index and middle finger to achieve a higher firing rate in semi automatic guns.
